Timelines currently applied

Verified against the MeitY consolidated IT Rules, 2021 as on 10 February 2026 (G.S.R. 120(E)):

  • Acknowledgement: 24 hours
  • Ordinary grievance resolution: 7 days
  • Applicable Rule 3(1)(b) removal requests: 36 hours
  • Specified intimate / nudity / sexual / impersonation / morph complaints: 2 hours

If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee established by the Central Government, where that mechanism applies to the intermediary, within the period prescribed by those Rules.
