Secure Group and
Direct Messaging
Communication is the foundation of a healthy community. Mera Samaj's messaging system gives your samaj a structured, moderated, and encrypted communication platform — with group chats for every committee, sub-group, and city chapter, plus secure one-on-one direct messages between members. समाज के हर कोने को जोड़ें — सुरक्षित और व्यवस्थित।
Community Messaging That WhatsApp Cannot Provide
WhatsApp is a general-purpose messaging app — it was never designed for community governance. When samaj organizations try to manage communication through WhatsApp groups, they inevitably face the same problems: groups hit the 1,024 member limit, anyone can add anyone, admins have minimal control, and important messages get buried under casual conversation.
Mera Samaj messaging is architected specifically for Indian community organizations. Group chats are tied to the member directory — so every participant is a verified community member. Admins can create structured groups for the executive committee, the youth wing, city chapters, the ladies' committee, and more. Each group has defined roles, moderation tools, and can be linked to events or announcements.
The result is a communication system that scales with your community — from a 50-member local branch to a 50,000-member national organization — without losing order or accountability.
Messaging Features Built for Communities
Direct Messages (DMs)
End-to-end encrypted private conversations between any two community members. Share text, images, videos, voice notes, and documents. All DMs are permanently stored in your message history.
Moderated Group Chats
Create group chats for committees, sub-groups, city chapters, or interest groups. Set admin-only posting rules for official channels, or allow all members to participate in open discussion groups.
Broadcast Channels
Create one-way broadcast channels where only admins post and all members receive. Ideal for official announcements that don't need replies — keeping the channel clean and authoritative.
Linked to Community Context
Message threads can be linked to events (pre-event coordination), job listings (employer-applicant chat), or matrimony (family-to-family messaging after mutual interest). Context is always clear.
Rich Media Sharing
Share photos, videos, PDF documents, audio files, and contact cards. The app auto-compresses media to save data. Document previews show PDFs inline without downloading.
Admin Moderation Tools
Admins can delete any message, mute members for hours or days, remove members from groups, and view moderation logs. A safe messaging environment builds community trust.

Frequently Asked Questions
Messaging Feature — Mera Samaj
Is messaging on Mera Samaj end-to-end encrypted?
Today, messages use TLS (HTTPS) between your device and our servers, and are stored on the server for delivery, search, and moderation workflows. True end-to-end encryption (where the server cannot read message content) is on the product roadmap and is not the default for all threads yet. Official group chats may be moderated by community admins as described in your community settings.
Can members create their own group chats, or only admins?
Admins configure who can create group chats. In a typical setup, admins and moderators create official committee and sub-group chats. Members can create peer groups among themselves if the admin has enabled this permission. This keeps the messaging environment organised and moderated.
How is Mera Samaj messaging different from just using WhatsApp?
WhatsApp groups have a 1,024 member limit and offer no community admin controls. Anyone can add anyone. There is no member verification. Mera Samaj messaging is built for communities — with role-based permissions, admin moderation, integration with the community directory, no member cap, and the ability to link conversations to events, jobs, or matrimony profiles.
Can admins delete or moderate messages in group chats?
Yes. Community administrators and moderators can delete any message from official group chats, mute members for a period, or remove members from groups entirely. This is essential for maintaining a respectful, harassment-free communication environment within the community.
